On June 17th Northeast Utilities graciously hosted CTBLN's Quarterly meeting. Joe Wendover of Walgreens began the meeting with a discussion of the Walgreens model for recruiting, hiring and retaining employees with disabilities. This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Melissa Marshall of CTBLN about Disability Mentoring Day (DMD). Representatives from the Hartford Business Journal, ConnectiCare and Travelers shared positive experiences from last fall where they invited people with disabilities to job shadow at their workplaces. Peter Karanja shared his enriching experience as a mentee at Travelers. Panelists encouraged companies to participate in next year's Mentoring Day which will be on October 20th.
Many thanks to Northeast Utilities!
